Background:
A successful producer of professional MPEG-2 video decoders, Stradis needed to refresh its Web site's look, navigation, and content to improve usability and better reflect the company's value proposition. The revised site also needed to launch quickly, to coincide with NAB, an important broadcast industry trade show.

Role:
Complete site organizational re-design and execution, encompassing information architecture, content strategy, Web design and development, and deployment.

Process & Results:
One of the biggest issues with the previous design was a navigation structure that lacked content importance hierarchy. Product navigation was mixed with less frequently needed content elements (e.g., seldom used directions to the company headquarters), and related content cues were inconsistent from page to page. On the maintenance side, many site aspects were hard coded at a page level, making even simple updates difficult, time consuming, and error prone.

Beginning with stakeholder interviews and a competitive assessment, the next steps were site analytics review and user segment research to assess specific information needs and requirements. Clear separation and identification of product versus company information was the first design step, and devising contextually meaningful presentation of products and related information was a close second.

The resulting design immediately and succinctly communicates the company's offerings and value proposition on the home page, while the logically architected navigation easily leads site visitors to product content areas of interest. Product pages meaningfully communicate features and benefits to the site's technical audience and provide supporting, related, and cross-promotional content links in the page sidebar.

The site was designed using standard XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
